From Eigenzone

Eigenzone is a community effort started and hosted by Geert Bevin to provide a centralized place where Eigenharp users can consolidate information about their instruments.

This Wiki uses MediaWiki and Semantic MediaWiki with various extensions to provide a free and rich environment for contributors and readers. Thanks to semantic properties, the information is usable through rich queries and machine operations.

The server infrastructure that Eigenzone uses is state of the art and ensures that uptime is maximized with a maximum of guarantees for the persistence of any data. This is important since anyone investing their time to contribute information, certainly doesn't want to risk their efforts being lost.

• the server machine is setup from a customized Amazon EC2 machine image that contains all the system files as a bootable partition, this allows very quick recovery in case of host failure
• the web server files are stored on a dedicated Amazon Elastic Block store for high availability and high reliability
• the database server files are stored on a dedicated Amazon Elastic Block store for high availability and high reliability
• daily incremental backups of all non system files are sent to Amazon S3
• monthly full backups of all non system files are sent to Amazon S3
• daily database backups with weekly rotation are sent to Amazon S3
• all tools and software used are certified open-source (Ubuntu Linux, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MediaWiki, ...)
